Greezed Lightnin' was a steel Shuttleloop rollercoaster manufactured by Anton Schwarzkopf in the Western Junction section of Six Flags AstroWorld. It opened in 1978, and closed with the park in 2005. It was the park's first coaster to feature a loop.

History[]

When the park closed, the coaster was relocated to Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock, Texas. However, due to the park's unstable ground it was put into their storage at the nearby Mackenzie Park until 2012. Then Cliff's Amusement Park in Albuquerque, NM he acquired, but still it remains in storage and hasn't returned yet. There was even an attempt to reopen the coaster under its same name at the upcoming Grand Texas Theme Park & Big Rivers Fairgrounds in New Caney, TX, but this also never commenced.

Trivia[]

  • As of today, the only Schwarzkopf Shuttleloops in America are Montezooma's Revenge at California's Knott's Berry Farm, & the former Laser Loop (from Kennywood) that's currently ready to open in 2022 at Grand Island's Niagara Amusement Park & Splash World.

Layout[]

Guests on the train would go reverse then accelerate to the 360 degree vertical shuttle loop, then go backwards through the inversion again. The coaster was painted dark blue.
